Formal charges have been raised against two people who are suspected of planning attacks in the University of Helsinki.

The two may be charged with planning to cause aggravated harm and endangering people’s lives.

According to the prosecution, a man and a woman in their twenties planned and agreed to kill several people inside the University.

They were found to have in their possession different equipment for carrying out the attack.

The prosecutor Kimmo Virtanen said that at this stage he could not go into details to explain what was in the possession of the suspects.

Both suspects have denied the allegation and are still in custody.

The police have remained tight-lipped about details during the pre-trial investigation.

The Helsinki District Court will deal with the case next Wednesday.
