Early voting in EU parliamentary polls ends

Early voting in European Parliamentary polls on Tuesday.
Early voting in the European Parliament elections saw the total number of votes cast reaching 722,029 on Tuesday evening.
 
The voter turnout on the final day translated to 17.1 per cent of the total eligible voters who took part in the process.
 
According to the preliminary data, more than 187,000 people cast their votes on Tuesday, the final day which also turned out to be the busiest one since the early voting process began. 
 
More than 161,000 people had voted by six O'clock in the evening, as the voting process was nearing its end.
 
Voting record shows more than 193,000 people had voted on the final day of the early voting five years ago.
 
The voting figure is just slightly lower than the previous European elections held in 2009, even though an extra day had been allocated this time for voting in advance.
 
The preliminary percentage of voter turnout in the corresponding period of the previous elections five years back stood at 17.4 with the final figure rising to 17.57. The total voter turnout in the previous European Parliament elections was 726,069.
 
Women as usual were more active than men on Tuesday.
 
The actual voting will be held on Sunday.
