The blooming of birch is at its peak at Oulu latitude and airborne pollen amount is abundant in southern Lapland, according to the Aerobiology Unit of Turku University.

Willows have also started to bloom all over the country except in northern Lapland.

In addition, the first grasses have also started to bloom in southern and central parts of the country. The amount of grass pollen is so far still very small.

Similarly, spruce and spine are about to begin to flower in the south and central parts.

The yellow layer of conifer pollen on surfaces triggers allergic reactions in only a few people. Birch and grass trigger most allergic reactions affecting 10-20 per cent of the population.
