Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen will attend the traditional Nordic prime ministers' summer meeting which will be organised this year in the towns of Akureyri and Mývatn in Iceland on 26-27 May, said an official press release.
 
The prime ministers of Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark will discuss Nordic cooperation, the future of Europe and key international issues.
 
Icelandic presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers, cooperation in the fields of defence and foreign policy, the political and economic development of the EU, and the relations between Europe and the United States will be discussed during the first day of the meeting. 
 
Other topics include situation in Ukraine, Syria and Afghanistan, and the next NATO Summit. 
 
Representatives from the Åland Islands, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and the Nordic Council of Ministers will attend the meeting on the second day, and they will participate in discussions on Arctic issues and Nordic neighbourhood policy.
