FTimes-STT Report, Jan 18

A rowdy group of ice hockey fans caused chaos in a restaurant in Lappeenranta before Saturday evening  match between SaiPa and Pelicans, reported Finnish language daily Etelä Saimaa.

The Southeast Finland Police said a bus ferrying the hooligans, apparently supporters of Pelicans, had arrived from Lahti.

According to the report, the hooligans threw chairs, tankards and tables in the restaurant.

The same hooligans had earlier been seen during the day at the city centre of Lappeenranta and had reportedly blasted fireworks at Kirkokatu. However, no one was injured during the trouble.

The restaurant is known as being SaiPa's partner. Fans can follow the away matches on the television and after home matches, fans gather in the bar.
