Three fraudsters reportedly collected money from tourists at the City Centre of Helsinki in guise of authority this week.

The Helsinki police received information about three incidents in which men posing as representatives of law enforcing authorities demanded to inspect bags and wallets belonging to tourists.

Two of the imposters are reported to have been wearing blue shirts and showed the tourists some kind of a badge.

The task of a third man in the group was to approach the tourists, for example, to ask help in map reading or taking photographs.

After the departure of the man, the rest in guise of policemen came to the scene and asked the tourists, among other thing, how they exchanged money on the street.

The cheated tourists only realised afterwards that their money was missing. The fraudsters got away with a total of over 4,000 euros.

According to the Helsinki police, the fraudsters are a mobile criminal gang which has already left for Sweden.

The Swedish and Norwegian authorities are pursuing the three criminals.
