FTimes – STT Report, Jan 22

Police have busted a drug trafficking ring, which imported and distributed a large amount of amphetamine from Germany to Finland, Police Administration said on Thursday.

The drug trafficking ring consists of 23 suspects, of whom three are Swedish nationals and the rest are Finnish citizens, Detective chief inspector Jari Räty said, adding that the suspects are comprised of both men and women.

Eight of the suspects have been already taken into custody.

The group was suspected of smuggling a great quantity of amphetamine oil, equivalent to 25 kilograms of refined amphetamine worth about euro 1 million sold at street markets, from Germany between November 2014 and July 2015.

The drug has been distributed mainly to Ostrobothnia, western Finland, said the police in a press release.

According to police, on Thursday the German police arrested seven suspects linking to the drug smuggling case. Four of them belong to Conquistadors MC, which is a part of German Bandidos Motorcycle Club.

A Finnish prosecutor has issued a European arrest warrant, on the basis of which the other three suspects detained in Germany will be extradited to Finland for pre-trial investigation and possible legal process.
