The extremist organisation Isis has at least five fighters from Finland among its ranks, reported the national broadcaster Yle.

According to documents obtained by Yle through a German journalists’ group, two are reportedly in the Middle East and one is dead.

One of the Isis fighters is, according to Yle, a native-born Finn. Two others have Finnish citizenships, and the remaining two do not. Two persons are reported to be part of the Finnish jihad network, one from Somalia and the other from Bangladesh. According to Yle, they are still alive in Isis territory.

The third name appears to be the same as the alleged Finnish boss of the Rawti Shax cell. The fourth person is a Finnish man from Pirkanmaa, and the fifth is a Bangladeshi man from Helsinki. There was no confirmation on the last two, whether they are dead or alive, or whether they have possibly returned to Finland.

The Security Police (Supo) told the Finnish news agency STT that they were aware of the list. However, Supo does not comment on individual suspects or their knowledge of them.

“We know about the list, and we will deal with it together with our international partners,” said Chief Inspector Tuomas Portaankorva.

According to Yle, the search for Isis fighters from Finland continues, and more could still be found.
