FTimes- STT Report, Mar 25

A total of seven people including a foreigner drowned in the country in January-February.

The preliminary data was obtained from the Finnish Swimming Teaching and Lifesaving Federation.

The statistics also reveal that three people drowned in March.

The federation said ice-covered areas where there is flowing water should not be trusted.

Due to strong temperature fluctuations, ice which may be robust in the morning could become weak at night and extremely dangerous .The ice situation also varies greatly in different parts of the country.

The federation has also urged for close supervision of children, because they can drift to areas where the ice is week or in near piers or bridge.
