To focus on caring for baby boy adopted from Columbia
FTimes- STT Report, Mar 25

Member of Parliament Jutta Urpilainen will stay away from parliamentary work until the end of this year to look after a baby boy she has adopted from Columbia.

A statement said Urpilainen, a former chair of the Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP), has adopted a child and will stay at home to take its care.

Urpilainen on the social media site Facebook said she was happy after adopting a child of just over a year from Columbia together with her partner.

“I am happy that we are now three! Together with my partner we adopted on Wednesday a boy aged just over a year here in Columbia. Now we are learning the life of the family with children,” Urpilainen wrote on Facebook.

Urpilainen also sits on the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee and is a member of the bank council.

Urpilainen was succeeded by Antti Rinne as the leader of SDP in May 2014.
