At least 19 persons were killed and 340 others were injured in road traffic accidents in February, according to Statistics Finland’s preliminary data.

A total of 270 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in the month.

The number of persons killed was five higher and that of persons injured 16 higher than in February 2015, the data show.

Of the persons who were killed, 15 travelled by passenger car, one by van and one by lorry. Pedestrians killed in road traffic accidents numbered four.

Among those who died, 14 were men and five were women as per the statistics.

A total of 600 road traffic accidents involving personal injury happened in January to February period. In them, 35 persons were killed and 770 persons injured.

The number of persons killed was four higher and that of persons injured two higher than in the corresponding period of 2015.

Of the persons who were killed, 29 travelled by passenger car, one by van and one by lorry. Pedestrians killed numbered four.
