The Director General of Customs Antti Hartikainen has acted in violation of administrative law, said the Parliamentary Deputy Ombudsman Maija Sakslin on Wednesday.

The case involves the Customs executive committee meeting, where they discussed funds to be allocated toward controlling imported liquor and the fulfilment of tasks for the year.

According to the Deputy Ombudsman, Hartikainen was disqualified and required to leave the meeting.

Hartikainen decided to stay for the meeting and was not removed for the duration of the proceedings. The meeting lasted about ten minutes.

The Deputy Ombudsman decided to clarify the situation when the Parliamentary Ombudsman office received an anonymous letter about the situation.

Last year, Hartikainen was found not to have influenced the hiring of his wife at the Customs. He, however, was given a serious admonition as well notified on the code of conduct.
