The police force is planning to acquire better drone quadcopters.

Until now, the quadcopters have been used in technical crime and accident scene investigations. Its use, however, is planned to be expanded to all police operations.

"Large acquisitions are likely to be made next year," said senior inspector of the National Police Board Sami Hätönen.

The police have until now mainly used enthusiasts-level unmanned drones which costs a few thousand euros at most.

Each police department has had at least one quadcopter, and overall they have been used for about twenty times.

The drones planned for acquisition are not only the latest ones but of higher quality.

In order to utilise the drones for more demanding operations, the police would like to acquire drones with double video capability of the unmanned  aerial vehicles from the current 20 minutes.
