The cardboard manufacturer Metsä Board will start codetermination negotiations with the aim to reduce up to 100 employees from its factory in Kyröskoski, Hämeenkyrö.

The negotiations affect all 250 employees of the Kyröskoski factory, the company said on Thursday.

The negotiations are due to start next week and are likely to continue into late September.

The company plans to close the paper-side of the Kyröskoski factory, leaving only the cardboard side in production.

The paper-side of the factory produces wallpaper base, and it is not the cardboard company’s core business. In 2015, the Kyrökoski paper factory’s net sales were 50 million euros, with a five million euro overall loss.

Metsä Board’s operating result excluding non-recurring items was just over 70 million euros in the first quarter of 2016.
