A new state-owned development company will be established in August, said the government counsellor at the Office of the Prime Minister, Ilpo Nuutinen.

The government has justified to the Office of the Prime Minister the establishment of a state-owned development company named Vake.

Nuutinen said the company is referred to as the beginning of an interim caretaker government. Nuutinen pointed out that the company’s board will be changed later in autumn.

The decision on the matter will be made by Prime Minister Juha Sipilä, who is responsible for corporate governance.

The state’s holdings from other such companies like Altia, Ekokem, Neste, and Posti, will be transferred to Vake.

According to Nuutinen, the transfers do not yet have a precise timetable. The transfers from Neste and Vapo are waiting for a change in the law, which parliament will have to approve.
