Sales in total trade increased by 2.2 per cent year-on-year in September 2015, according to Statistics Finland’s data.
 
Growth in sales was strongest in motor vehicle trade where it amounted to 10.3 per cent.
 
Sales in retail trade increased by 3.3 per cent in September from one year ago.
 
Sales of daily consumer goods grew by 3.0 per cent and sales in department stores by 4.2 per cent. Of trade industries, only wholesale trade sales declined, down by 0.4 per cent in September from one year earlier, the data show.
 
The sales volume in motor vehicle trade  went up by 10.0 per cent from September 2015.
 
The data indicate that the number of first registrations of motor vehicles was also 13.3 per cent higher in Septermber than one year earlier. The sales volume in retail trade grew by 4.1 per cent.
 
The sales volume in wholesale trade, in turn, went down by 0.5 per cent from one year back. Thus, sales volume increased in total trade by 2.4 per cent in September.
