FTimes-STT Report, April 18

Speaker Eero Heinäluoma on Wednesday hinted that he was still considering contesting the next presidential election.

In response to a query of newspersons at the launching ceremony of a book written by Heikki Saari on the speaker, Heinäluoma hinted at the possibility of his candidature in the presidential polls.

‘The next book is the book of the president. I have decided to write the book myself in the future,’ said the speaker, replying to the question whether the book was published as a book of the president or to launch the election campaign.

Heinäluoma is expected to be the next presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party.

Former party secretary and MP Maarit Feldt-Ranta, who was interviewed in the book by Heikki Saari, also hinted at the candidature of Heinäluoma in the presidential election.

Feldt-Ranta’s comment was placed at the end of the 300-page book.

‘I'm thinking that something interesting is coming after the job of the speaker,’ said Feldt-Ranta.
