Sat, 13 Jul, 2013 04:18:09 AM Explosive laden containers to be removed FTimes-STT Report, July 13  Production of Forcit explosives factory suspended temporarily.Photo Str / Lehtikuva The production of explosive manufacture company Forcit has been suspended on Friday following the Wednesday’s leak in the plant, which released hot wave in Vihtavuori of Laukaa.
The authority decided to suspend the production until completion of removal of all the containers laden with explosive from the factory area to ensure safety, factory sources said.
The authority expect to resume the production works from Tuesday.
The Chief Executive Officer of Forcit, Ulf Sjöblom said that about 200 containers, considered as most risky are to be relocated, in addition to storage of new containers and the tasks are expected to be completed early next week.
The director of Safety and Chemicals Agency -Tukes,PäiviRantakoski said that defense forces were also asked to cooperate with the transfer works.
The director expected that the shipments would be completed by early next week and the factory would start operation again from Tuesday evening.
Earlier, several hundreds of residents were evacuated from near the explosive plant after a leak in the plant released hot wave in Vihtavuori of Laukaa on Wednesday.
The residents were evacuated as fear mounted that the explosion plant might cause harm to them because of chemical reactions.
Police and firefighter said that the situation was created on Wednesday evening when a container of the explosives waste at the ForcitVihtavuori explosives plant posed risk of chemical reaction and heat hazard due to the leak.
The rescue authority evacuated most of the total 2,000 residents and took them to nearby shelters to avoid the risk when the air temperature reached to about 60 degrees Celsius.
