Ruling Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party-NCP) lawmaker Tapani Mäkinen came under a terrorist attack at Lahti late Friday night, reported a Finnish Language newspaper, the Iltalehti.

Sources said two youths attacked the lawmaker and his assistant when they were returning from a restaurant in the locality.

The miscreants called Mäkinen ‘elite class’ and assaulted him physically, when both the lawmaker and his assistant were injured, Mäkinen told STT on Saturday.

Mäkinen lost consciousness for a few seconds during the attack.

The lawmaker, however, is yet to decide whether he will file a case with the police in this regard.

Earlier, a group of agitated people staged a demonstration during the council of the Kokoomus in Lahti.

The police said the demonstration was peaceful.

The police are still not sure whether the attackers have any link to the demonstration.
