The minister believes the number of refugees could be raised by 300.
This would mean that the number of quota refugees next year would be same as this year’s number.
The number of quota refugees was this year increased to 1,050 because of reasons including the war in Syria.
For a long time the number of quota refugees taken in the country has stood at 750.
The minister would like to see the additional refugees accepted come from Syria.
Räsänen believes the sympathetic consideration currently shown towards the refugees should be made into good use.
