The Council of Europe Anti-Corruption Group (GRECO), the European anti-corruption body has called on the country to up its efforts in preventing corruption such as in the judiciary.

GRECO on Wednesday released a report which evaluates how Finland has complied with the recommendations it suggested in 2013.

The report points out that the country has met eight of the recommendations, whereas it has partly succeeded in meeting the rest.

GRECO praised Finland for its continuation of the practice which requires parliamentarians to publicly declare their other commitments as well as gifts which they receive.

The anti-corruption body hopes further improvement for instance in areas such as incidental occupation among judges and provision of ethical guidelines covering judges.

GRECO believes the regulation do not take sufficient account of the risks of corruption.

GRECO was established in 1999 by the council of Europe to monitor member states compliance with the organisation's anti-corruption standards.
