Tue, 07 Apr, 2015 12:54:05 AM FTimes-STT Report, April 7  File Photo Lehtikuva. Two people were killed in a head-on collision in the Pirkanmaa region of Hämeenkyrö on Monday night.
The accident occurred at the national road 3 south of Hämeenkyrö at around 8:30 pm.
A man who was driving one of the cars involved in the accident and a woman who was riding in the opposite car died in the accident.
The driver of the other car was injured in the accident.
The police are yet to establish why the man who was driving alone from south was using the lane used by on-coming vehicles.
One lane on the national road 3 at the scene of the accident was closed as police directed traffic.
Meanwhile, a young man died in a car accident in the North Karelian municipality of Tohmajärvi on Sunday night.
According to the police, the car swerved off from the road and crashed on to a tree. The driver of the car died instantly.
The police are investigating the cause of the accident at that took place at highway number 6.
