A city mayor's average income is slightly more than 9200 euros a month, while a municipal mayor earns on average 6700 euros a month, says the municipal employers union, Kuntatyöantajat (KT).

The salary is virtually directly proportional to the population of the area in question.

The average age for a mayor (both city and municipal) is just over 53 years, while ages range from 27 to 67. Less than 20% of all mayors are women.

The most common education for a mayor is a master's degree in administration.

The data comes from Statistics Finland, based on last year's numbers.
