Two men were killed in an accident at a railroad crossing in between Kokimäki and Harjavalta areas in Satakunta on Saturday morning.
 
The police said the accident took place at about 6.30 am when a train hit a speeding car despite using emergency brake.
 
According to the police, the car was on its way from Pori to Tampere when it drove in front of a train at an unprotected crossing on Näyhäläntie.
 
After the collision, the car was pushed almost 600 metres on the front of the train. One of the dead was a resident of Kokimäki, the other was from Harjavalta. 
 
None of the passengers of the train was injured, said the police.
 
Due to the damage, the train service between Pori and Kokemäki was replaced with a bus.
 
The transport section of the track returned to normal use by the afternoon, said the rail operating company VR.
