International NGO Save the Children on Tuesday expressed concern about how Finland is preparing for the future placement of minors who have been granted asylum.

Additionally, those children who come with their families could easily remain neglected, said Director General of the organisation’s activities Riitta Kauppinen.

Late last year, the organisation began their Child-friendly Spaces in Emergencies (CFS) operation in connection with the refugee reception centres.

The organisation also established housing units in Espoo and Oulu for refugee children arriving alone in Finland.

CFS is an international operation implemented by Save the Children around the world for children living in the middle of crisis or disasters and for children who have been refugees for years.

This is the first time the operation has been implemented in Finland.
