The government on Tuesday decided to allocate state grants of euro 30 million to political parties for the year 2016.
 
The state grant is awarded to the parliamentary parties, political activities of the Åland admin-istration and political parties’ communication support.
 
The allocation is based on the proportion to the representation of a political party in the parlia-ment and the votes in the past parliamentary polls.
 
Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) will receive euro 7.3 million, Perussuomalaiset (Finns Party) will receive euro 5.6 million and Kansallinen Kokoomus (National Coalition Party) was allocated euro 5.5 million.
 
The largest opposition party Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland) will receive euro 5 million, Vihreä liitto (Green League) will get euro 2.2 million, vasemmistoliitto (Left Alliance) will get euro 1.8 million and Suomen Kristillisdemokraatit (Christian Democrats of Finland) will get euro 740,000.
 
The Åland administration will receive euro 148,000. The state grant has been awarded since 1967.
