A court has sentenced a middle-aged man from Pori to a conditional four-month imprisonment for harassing Suomen Sosialidemokraattinen Puolue (Social Democratic Party of Finland-SDP) lawmaker and former minister Krista Kiuru, reported the Finnish language local newspaper Satakunta Kansa on Saturday.

According to the verdict, the convict has harassed Kiuru for the last seven years by sending her many confusing, threatening and inappropriate messages.

At the worst, he called her 64 times in one day. The calls also came at night.

Kiuru received 460 text messages from the man from October to December of last year.

The harassment was ongoing for seven years from beginning of 2007 to 2015.

The court also served the man a restraining order. In addition, he will have to pay Kiuru 3,000 euros in compensation.

Some of the materials examined by the district court were kept secret.
