An automated cash machine was ripped away from a wall at Pielavesi in North Savonia in the early hours of Friday, said police.

Two men were spotted at the scene, believed to be foreigners, said police, adding that they used a van to split the machine from the wall.

Detective Chief Inspector Juha Korhonen said on Friday afternoon that no suspects had been apprehended yet.

The police are looking for the red Volkswagen Transporter van used for the incident that took place at about 3am onwards.

According to police, the van was stolen from Pyhäsalmi.

The incident is being investigated as aggravated theft.

The suspects, however, did not really get away with anything during the incident, so the charges have changed to attempted aggravated theft.
