Hunting of ringed seals this year is allowed only in the Gulf of Bothnia-Quark management area, that is, hunting of the seals is limited to Finland’s sea waters from Kristiinankaupunki to Tornio for this year.

According to the Finnish Wildlife Agency, the ringed seal hunting quota set for this year is 200.

The seal hunting season starts in September and ends in the middle of October.

The second season will be from middle of April until the end of May.

There are two species of seal in the Baltic Sea: ringed seal and grey seal. Of these two, ringed seal is an endangered species.
