The Helsinki stock exchange (OMXH) has listed more companies this year than it had done in any of the previous 14 years. In total, 12 companies were listed on the stock market this year.
The last was the construction company Consti formally listed on Monday.

A favourable equity market has been behind the surge, NASDAQ OMX Helsinki Ltd President Lauri Rosendahl told the news agency STT. He said the majority of the companies listed on the stock market have got off to a good start.

“The capitals that the companies had been sourcing have been acquired and these accelerate growth and investments. Some have gone international. From the perspective of the society, it is important that growth creates jobs,” Rosendahl stressed.

Rosendahl explained that the phenomenon applies not only to Finland, since there has been a boom in Sweden as well.

As many as 86 Nordic companies have been listed this year, 60 of them on the Stockholm stock exchange.

According to Rosendahl, owners have been willing to liquidate their holdings and involve new owners and capital.

“The interest of the investors has also been good. Recently, the share issue of Evli was five times oversubscribed indicating substantial demand,” Rosendahl said.

Rosendahl refused to speculate about next years. He, however, said that a lot of discussions are underway and they look promising. However, even the professionals in the sector do not know how long the initial public window offering is open.
