Road accidents kill 45 in Jan-Mar

Nineteen people were killed and 383 others injured in road accidents in March, according to the Statistics Finland.
 
The preliminary data of the Statistics Finland released on Thursday show in total 289 road mishaps took place in the country in last month.
 
The number of deaths in road accidents this March is two less than that in March 2012, said the Statistics Finland report. The number of injured in March 2013, however, is 62 more than that in March 2012.
 
Of the deceased, 12 were travelling by cars, one by van, and one by lorry while one was riding a bicycle and the remaining four were pedestrians. Of the 19 killed, 15 were men and four women, the report said.
 
A total of 853 road accidents causing physical injuries took place in January to March, leaving 45 people dead and 1,140 injured. The death toll in the period is 20 less than that in the corresponding period of 2012, the report said.
