A man from Oulu born in 1978 is suspected of a number of cases of child abuse.
According to the police, the man approached underage girls for sex by looking up their profiles in the IRC-Galleria.
The investigation has however not revealed if the man had sexual contact with any of the underage girls.
The suspicions were raised last November after a mother of an 11-year-old girl suspected that her daughter had engaged in a sexual intercourse with an adult male.
The mother discovered nearly a thousand text messages exchanged between the girl and the man as well as nude photos of both.
The man’s computer was found to have about 8,000 offensive images and videos of children.
According to the police, the man had circulated the photos to different people through the internet.
