The parliamentary committee on commerce will hold an extraordinary meeting on the sanctions imposed against Russia and their possible consequences for Finland.

The meeting slated for Thursday will be attended by representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, Confederation of Finnish Industries, and Federation of Finnish Technology Industries. Among those invited to attend is Professor Pekka Sutela, an expert in Russian economic affairs.

The aim of the meeting is to have an overview of the effects of the sanctions on the Finnish economy and its business sector.

The committee chair, Mauri Pekkarinen, last week called on Prime Minister Alexander Stubb to provide the committee with a report on the sanctions on Russia.

It is still not clear if the premier will attend the hearing.
