Vanhanen in a Facebook update said he was thinking about how his experience of working in family businesses and state leadership could be amalgamated.
He said he was considering taking the decision this autumn.
The former premier said in the past few years he had been working with family businesses, their owners and management and had gained a diverse understanding of businesses and work-places in which well-being is resolved. Vanhanen said the candidacy may lead to perhaps his last phase of working life and that is why the decision is a major one to him.
Vanhanen was a member of parliament in 1991-2010 and the country’s prime minister from 2003 to 2010.
