Minister of Defence Carl Haglund is scheduled to begin his four-day Asia tour tomorrow (Monday), said a press release of the ministry of defence on Friday.  

 

Haglund’s itinerary includes visit to Beijing on October 27, Tokyo on October 28 and Singapore on October 29 where he would stay until October 30.

 

In Beijing, Haglund will meet China's Minister of National Defence General Chang Wanquan and discuss bilateral relations including the security policy situation in Asia and Europe, and the United Nation's current crisis-management operations. 

 

During his visit to China, Haglund will also meet the Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission.

 

In Tokyo, the Finnish Defence Minister will be hosted by Japan's Defence Minister Akinori Eto. The two ministers will address the relations between the two countries, the bilateral cooperation between the defence administrations, the challenges of crisis management and regional security issues.

 

In Singapore, Haglund’s working visit's agenda includes questions related to defence material cooperation and defence industry. He will also participate in the export promotion event initiated by the Association of Finnish Defence and Aerospace Industries.
