The defence forces have received the first batch of modernised Pasi armoured personnel carriers as part of the development programme aimed at improving mobility of the troops.
 
Defence contractor Patria is responsible for modernising the fleet and the agreement of the development programme will create employment opportunity of approximately 70 man-years.
 
The first 70 units of armoured personnel carriers built in the 1980s are to be modernised in the 2015-2017 period.
 
The modernisation targets the carrier seats, electrical system as well exterior coating.
 
Similarly, the armoured personnel carriers’ engines, transmissions and axles will be checked and if necessary will be renovated or replaced.
