FTimes - Xinhua Report, Nov. 08

Members of a large-scale drug gang discovered last year in Joensuu, an eastern city of Finland, are currently facing criminal charges, reported Finnish national broadcaster YLE on Friday.

The drug gang, which numbers 74 young men aged 18 to 25, was uncovered by the Finnish police last year, leading to a pre-trial investigation conducted between late 2013 and spring 2014.

Police carried out several home searches as part of the investigation, seizing several cannabis plants and an illegal weapon.

According to the preliminary investigation, all members of the gang were suspected of drug-related offences. Six people were suspected of aggravated drug offences, 56 of drug offences, and 12 of drug use.

Some of the principle gang members were also suspected of accruing illegal gains of 70,000 euros (about 87,000 U.S. dollars) from drug trafficking, said YLE.

The pre-trial investigation has finished and the case will be transferred to the office of prosecutors for prosecution.
