The Helsinki District Court on Friday sentenced a man to three years imprisonment for brutally assaulting his baby.
According to the court, the father during a period of about two weeks in spring of 2012 had mistreated like violently shaking the baby under three-year-old.
The 25-year-old father denied shaking the baby. According to the court, the baby endured serious life-long disabilities. The baby was also found to have fractures of extremities.
The District Court observed that the man's main intention was to assault the baby, but he must have apparently known that his actions could cause serious injury to the baby.
A psychiatric assessment found the man culpable of his actions.
