The foreign ministry said the change will strengthen the relationship between Finland and Lebanon as well as improve Finland’s operational conditions in the Middle East.
The mission’s operations, in addition to Lebanon, will cover Syria, Iraq and Jordan.
The president approved the decision on Friday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently closed a number of foreign missions as part of cost-cutting measures.
The country’s foreign missions were at the most expansive level in 2010, with more than a hundred offices around the world.
