Over 500 parliamentary candidates have signed a wall portrait expressing their commitment towards promoting the interests of children and young people in decision making.

The wall portrait promises, among other things, to safeguard young people’s opportunity to engage in activities of their interests as well as to return the purchasing power of the reduced child allowance back to the previous level.

Furthermore, a sick child should receive care at home for a few days until the age of 13.

People working with children and young people also challenged parliamentary candidates during the previous parliamentary elections.

The number of candidates who signed the portrait during the previous election has now been surpassed by less than a week.

Most of the signatories are Suomen Kristillisdemokraatit (Christian Democrats of Finland),Vihreä Liito (Green League) and Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party) candidates.

The office of the Ombudsman for Children, Central Union for Child Welfare and Mannerheim League for Child Welfare, among others, are behind the invention.
