Violations of entry bans increased last year said the National Police Board.

In 2014, approximately 400 entry bans were breached which was a hundred more compared to the previous year.

According to the National Police Board, in almost all the cases, the breach concerned Estonian citizens who had an entry ban imposed on them because of past criminal offences in Finland.

On the other hand, case of illegal entry in the county dropped last year.

In 2014, just under 3000 people were found to have been living illegally in the country. This number was approximately 400 less than the previous year.

The police board said the arrangement patterns of illegal entry in the country have changed.

Currently, illegal immigrants enter the country individual or in groups but without the so called escorts.

Generally, the immigrants arrive from Iraq, Somalia, Russia, Afghanistan and Iran.
