Two young men might get a huge bill for a climbing adventure. The men climbed up a 70-meter chimney of the old Koff factory on Helsinki Boulevard.

The two climbed to the top of the chimney to snap the landscape. They were brought down without injury by a Rescue Service raised-platform vehicle.

“They agreed to come down quite nicely, and the situation ended without incident. Always remember, though, that climbing without any gear is a dangerous endeavour,” said the fire chief on duty, Markku Holopainen.

The men had been drinking before the climb.

According to Holopainen, the matter was transferred to the police for investigation on Sunday. The Rescue Department is calculating the total cost of the rescue operation.

“The situation started with 30m fire fighters. In the worst case, this might cost those young men thousands of dollars,” Holopainen said.
