Pete Pokkinen, has been appointed as the Special Adviser to the President, said an official press release on Tuesday.
 
Pokkinen was working at Huawei, where he had been responsible for communications and public relations in Finland.
 
He has previously functioned as Special Adviser to Prime Minister Alexander Stubb and Minister of Economic Affairs Jyri Häkämies, as well as Communications Secretary of the Parliamentary Group of the National Coalition Party and as a journalist.
 
Pokkinen was also in charge of communications for President Niinistö's 2012 presidential campaign.
 
Mikko Kortelainen, the former Special Adviser to the President has become Special Adviser to Petteri Orpo, the Minister of the Interior.
 
Kortelainen has been Special Adviser to President Niinistö since the beginning of the latter's term in office in 2012, the press release added.
