Unidentified miscreants are suspected to have killed a middle aged woman and dumped the body near her home in Koskenkylä area of Loviisa sometime between Thursday and Friday.
The body of the 42-year-old woman who used to live alone was found by an acquaintance.
The police received the alarm at 6:00pm on Friday.
The woman was killed either on Thursday or Friday, the police said after the initial investigations.
The police suspect a man born in 1988 of committing the murder. He was arrested in the early hours on Saturday. The suspect tried to escape first by a car and then on foot.
The police had to use force to apprehend the man and he was given medical treatment for the injuries he received during the scuffle.
A police dog was seriously injured too during the making the arrest. Information gathered so far indicates that the suspect and the victim knew each other.
The offence is being investigated as murder due to the brutal way of the killing.
