A young politician in Finland has been put under a pretrial investigation by police for suspicion of inciting hatred on social media, Finnish news agency Suomen Tietotoimisto (STT) reported Monday.

Sebastian Tynkkynen, chairman of the Finns Party Youth, allegedly spread false and malicious information against the Muslim population living in Finland, Tapani Tasanto from the Oulu Police Department told STT.

Tasanto said the request of investigation would target materials including more than 10 pages of messages posted by Tynkkynen on social media such as Facebook.

Media reports said Tynkkynen's messages said Finland should stop its "Islamification" and restrict the entry of Muslims to Finland.

Last month, the young politician even called for "the eradication of Islam from Finland," saying that all Muslims without Finnish citizenship should be deported to their countries of origin.

Tynkkynen told STT that the police had not contacted him and he had not received any information about the starting of the investigation.

Riikka Slunga-Poutsalo, secretary of the Finns Party, one of the country's three ruling parties, told STT that the board of the party would ponder over Tynkkynen's situation, but the party did not want to comment on an unsettled issue.
