The government is considering limiting the people with dual citizenship in holding official positions in the state, reported the Finnish language daily Keskisuomalainen.

The move is subject to legislative amendment which will be tabled before parliament in the near future.

According to the plan, people with dual citizenship would not be allowed to access certain posts in the Defence Forces and security-related services.

The review will examine posts in the Defence Forces, Border Guard, the police, among other services, said Finance Ministry Counsellor Kirsi Äijälä who is leading the preparation of the draft law.

For instance, the services related to the country’s security include foreign service, Customs and communication.
