Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, Minister for Integration Erik Ullenhag and Defence Minister Karin Enström attended a crayfish party thrown by Finnish President Sauli Niinistö at the latter’s Kultaranta summer residence.

The event was confirmed through a twitter feed of the president’s office.

Bildt also made a tweet before the meeting.

Two Finnish ministers – Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja and Defence Minister Carl Haglund – were also present at the party, although not in an official capacity.

The meeting focused on both bilateral issues and those concerning Europe.

President Niinistö has in the past shown support for a complete review of the country’s defence in which cooperation between Sweden and Finland has to be taken into account.

On Tuesday, Haglund met with the visiting Estonian Defence Minister Sven Mikser. Among other things, the two discussed the Ukraine crisis and NATO membership.
