The turnout in the just concluded parish election declined to 15.6 percent which was 17 percent four years ago.
 
The percentage of voters who took part in advance voting was 59 percent.
 
Voters from the age of 16 were eligible to vote bringing the total number of eligible voters to 3.3 million.
 
More than 9000 church officials were elected following the completion of elections of 413 parishes in which slightly more than 19,000 candidates took part.
 
The average age of the candidates was 53 years with around half of the candidates elected for the first time.
 
Of those elected, 54 percent are women and 6 percent of the elected candidates are under the age of 30.
 
These data are based on preliminary election results, and a comprehensive report will be released on Wednesday.
