The Finnish Red Cross has warned people about fraudsters purporting to collect donations on its behalf in Southwest Finland.

The frauds try to get money for instance by selling socks. So far, there have been a few attempts to con the public.

The Finnish Red Cross said its door to door collectors and fundraisers wear the association vests and have collection permits. In addition, the organisation said their containers used for donation are marked with a sticker and a seal.

Furthermore, the Finnish Red Cross said its collectors do not go around selling goods or intend to go inside a person’s house.

The collectors only go around during specified times such as during Hunger Day.

The organisation has appealed to the public to report fraudsters to the police as well as to the Finnish Red Cross.
