FTimes-STT Report, Nov 14
A court on Thursday sentenced one person to life term and another to nine years in jail for killing an elderly man in Kotka this summer.

The Kymenlaakso District Court awarded life term imprisonment to a 33-year-old man who shot dead a man of 60 as the allegations brought against him were proved beyond doubt.

The court also sentenced a 40-year-old man who took part in the murder to nine years in prison while another accused was acquitted.

According to the court, the two men killed the victim by shooting him in the head.

The court justified the life imprisonment handed to the convicted family man as the murder was premeditated.

The court also held that the convicted had prepared for the day to carry out the crime such as by developing a silencer for the weapon.

The court described the murder as aggravated since the victim was shot in cold blood for no apparent reason.

The court also stated that there was no evidence that the convicted family man and the other convicted man had agreed to kill the victim.

The victim was shot in Kotka in July.
